Celebrating Tammy Jones’ 30 Years of Service

On July 26th, 2026, Tammy Jones – Niislaa Naay Healing House Society’s Cultural Wellness Navigator – celebrated thirty years of service. In honour of her decades supporting the community, this article celebrates her and her many contributions.

Tammy is one of the original members of Niislaa Naay, known at the time of her joining as Haida Health Centre. In her time with the organisation, she has served as a Receptionist, Community Health Representative, Patient Travel Clerk, Recreation Director, Interim Health Director, Economic Development Administrative Assistant, and – most recently – the Cultural Wellness Navigator. She supported many great triumphs for the community in these roles, including by contributing to the development of the patient travel and dental programs.

When talking with Tammy’s colleagues, one thing is abundantly clear: every person who has the privilege of working with Tammy loves her.

She is described as an “all-hands-on-deck” kind of team player, “great to work with,” “positive, forward thinking, reliable, efficient, and always willing to help.” In addition to being dependable when it comes to moving work forward, she consistently goes above and beyond to create a strong, welcoming organisational culture. In fact, for 13 of her 30 years of service, she volunteered her time to organize the company Christmas and Halloween parties.At work and beyond, she is a source of stability and warmth for the many who rely on her. Her generosity and compassion extend beyond her coworkers, parents, children, and grandchildren to reach countless community members. Whether it be helping to fill out administrative or personal paperwork, taking care of a baby, or giving meaningful advice, Tammy is always there to help.

Even while juggling so much responsibility, Tammy maintains an easygoing demeanor that everyone loves to be around. One colleague described her as “everyone’s favourite aunt or grandmother,” and shared “Tammy has a very giving heart – should would literally give you the shirt off her back.”

Niislaa Naay is tremendously grateful to have benefitted from Tammy’s generosity, warmth, and skill. The entire team thanks Tammy for so many years of collaboration, friendship, and impact, and looks forward to watching her continue to shine in her new role of Cultural Wellness Navigator.
